While New Orleans' music gets more attention, the city's visual arts are equally noteworthy and impressive. Downtown New Orleans hosts one of the country's best and most diverse collections of public art, including murals by local artists, interactive sculptures by MacArthur Genius Grant winners, century old monuments, Hurricane Katrina memorials, and much more.
Early this year, the Downtown Development District of New Orleans engaged Stone Strategies to help document and analyze downtown New Orleans’ public art collection, and produce a guide for locals and visitors to experience the 116 works of public art. The completed interactive guide was released on September 29, 2026. Use it to explore the collection next time you're in New Orleans.
